FORG operates primarily in rural communities across Ghana, with a strong presence in the Upper West Region. Our work responds directly to the realities of poverty, environmental degradation, climate vulnerability, and limited livelihood opportunities in rural areas.

Friends of Rural Growth (FORG) is a Ghanaian non-profit organization dedicated to improving rural livelihoods through sustainable environmental management, climate action, agriculture, education, and inclusive community development.
Since 2016, FORG has worked closely with rural communities—particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups—to restore degraded landscapes, strengthen local livelihoods, and build resilience against climate and environmental challenges.
Our work combines community knowledge, scientific expertise, and partnership-driven solutions to deliver lasting impact.

FORG places communities at the center of every intervention. Traditional leaders, women groups, youth, and local institutions actively participate in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Projects are informed by baseline assessments, local knowledge, and scientific approaches to ensure relevance, efficiency, and impact.

We actively promote women’s participation and leadership while addressing structural barriers to inclusion.

FORG applies structured monitoring, evaluation, and financial management systems to ensure transparency, learning, and value for money.
